Every roundup of free AI video generators repeats the same numbers, and most of those numbers are wrong. We read each vendor's own pricing page on July 27, 2026 and wrote down what it says, with the one tool we could not verify that way flagged as such. Re-checked on October 8, 2026 — Runway, Luma and Kling still say what they said in July, Pika's free plan now comes with zero monthly credits, and Sora, a name on most free AI video generators lists, was switched off on 24 September. Three tools that appear on nearly every list do not have the free video tier those lists describe.
TL;DR: the free AI video generators worth your time
- Refreshing daily: PixVerse, on reported figures, is the one free AI video generator here with credits that come back tomorrow. Free video stays watermarked and capped at 720p.
- Not what the lists say: Kling's own $0 plan states it has no monthly credits, and puts daily free credits under subscriber benefits.
- Free but one-shot: Runway gives 125 one-time credits. They do not expire and they do not come back. That is a video trial, not a free tier.
- No longer free at all: Luma's pricing now starts at $30/month. Google's Veo has no free video tier either — video generation needs a paid Google AI plan, starting with Google AI Plus.
- Free with no watermark: Kavel is the only entry below that gives you free video with nothing stamped on it — clean 480p you can post as-is. Pika's free plan dropped its watermark too, but it now ships with zero credits, so every clip on it is one you buy.
- Already gone: OpenAI switched the Sora API off on 24 September 2026, five months after the Sora app closed on 26 April. Any list still recommending it is recommending a dead link — we priced the replacements per clip.
- What nobody tells you: free video is capped at 480–720p and 5–6 seconds because that is where the wholesale cost per video stays under roughly $0.15. Arithmetic, not product strategy.
What free AI video generators actually give you

| Tool | Free allowance | Refreshes? | Max res | Video length | Watermark | Commercial use | How we checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kavel | 20 credits on signup (two 4s videos), plus a daily check-in ladder worth 100/week | Daily | 480p | 4s | None | — | Our own live config, Oct 8 2026 |
| Kling | No monthly credits on the $0 plan; credits granted after login | Daily credits listed as a subscriber perk | 720p (1080p/4K paid) | 5s typical | Yes, removal is paid | Not on the $0 plan | Official membership page, re-checked Oct 8 2026 |
| Pika | 0 credits/month — credit packs only | — | — | — | None | Paid only | Official pricing page, re-checked Oct 8 2026 |
| DeeVid AI Video Generator (deevid.ai) | 20 credits, one time (≈4 clips) | No | 480p or 720p — the default is split-tested | 5s | Yes, logo burned top-right | Yes, per their FAQ | We ran one free generation, Sep 9 2026 |
| Runway | 125 credits, one time | No | — | — | Yes | Paid only | Official pricing page, re-checked Oct 8 2026 |
| Hailuo | One-time welcome credits that expire in 3 days | No daily grant in its policy doc | 768p | 6s | Yes | Rights language covers paid plans | Official payment policy doc |
| PixVerse | ~90 signup + ~60/day (≈1 video) | Daily | 720p | 5s | Yes | Paid only | Reported Oct 2026 — not an official page |
| Luma | None | — | — | — | — | — | Official pricing page, re-checked Oct 8 2026 |
| Google Veo | None | — | — | — | — | — | Google AI plans page, re-checked Oct 8 2026 |
One caveat we would rather state than hide. > Both PixVerse and Hailuo served us a localised page rather than an English one, and neither exposed a free video allowance without an account. Hailuo's row is limited to what its official payment policy actually says. The PixVerse allowance is the best figure reported in July 2026, flagged as reported rather than dressed up as verified. Every other row came off the vendor's own page on the date shown.
Why free AI video generators all stop at 720p
Read the table again. Almost every free video plan lands on the same three limits: 480–720p, 5–6 seconds, watermark. That 5–6 seconds is the model's ceiling, not the platform's — how long a TikTok video can be is a different question with no single official answer. That is not copying. That is the cost of generating one video.
Wholesale prices per video from a model marketplace, checked July 2026:

| Model and setting | Cost per video |
|---|---|
| Veo 3.1 Lite, 720p | $0.150 |
| Veo 3.1 Lite, 1080p | $0.175 |
| Veo 3.1 Lite, 4K | $0.750 |
| Hailuo 2.3 Standard, 6s, 768p | $0.150 |
| Hailuo 2.3 Pro, 6s, 1080p | $0.400 |
| Wan 2.5, 5s, 1080p | $0.500 |
| Wan 2.5, 10s, 1080p | $1.00 |
Now divide. An AI video generator handing out one free 720p video a day spends roughly $4.50 a month per active free user. Move that user to 1080p and ten seconds and the bill approaches $30 — more than most of these products charge for a paid plan. The free tier stops exactly where the arithmetic stops. The watermark exists so the free video still advertises the product that paid for it.
Which is also why "free, no watermark, 1080p, unlimited video" deserves a second look. Somebody is paying for those seconds.
What other free AI video generators lists get wrong
Sora is still on lists, and it is already gone
OpenAI discontinued the Sora web and app experiences on 26 April 2026, and the Sora API followed on 24 September 2026. A roundup of free AI video generators that still lists Sora as an option is pointing you at something that no longer exists. If you built on it, the move is cheaper than it sounds: at published rates most replacements cost less than Sora did — we did that comparison per five-second clip in Sora alternatives.
Luma sits on lists nobody has rechecked in months
Its pricing page today shows Plus at $30/month, Pro at $90, Ultra at $300. No free plan appears on it.
Runway's 125 credits are one-time
They never expire, which sounds generous until you notice they also never come back. Spend them on a few videos and the free account is finished.
Kling's $0 plan says the quiet part out loud
The official membership page lists Basic at $0, and its comparison table gives that plan no monthly credits, no commercial use and no watermark removal. Daily free credits appear on that page under subscriber benefits. If you have read that Kling gives every user free video credits daily, that is not what its own pricing page says.
Hailuo earns a mention too. Its payment policy states that accounts registered on or after June 18, 2025 receive a one-time welcome package that expires three days after it is granted. A three-day clock is easy to miss, and none of the roundups we read while researching this piece mentioned it.
Which free AI video generators to use for what
-
Testing an idea: PixVerse. Its reported daily credits mean you can come back tomorrow, and a watermark is irrelevant on a test video.
-
The video needs to look professional: every free tier in the table above that actually hands out credits, except ours, burns a logo into the frame, and all of them cap resolution — so if you need clean 1080p, budget $7–12/month; Kling's Standard plan is $6.99 for the first month and renews at $8.80. If what you actually need is a clean frame rather than more pixels, our free tier is the one that already gives you that.
-
You need video you can actually post: this is the gap nobody else fills, and it is exactly where we built. Our free AI video generator hands you clean 480p with no logo in the corner — for a vertical social crop that beats a watermarked 720p video every time. Signing up gets you 20 credits, enough for two 4-second videos or four images, and the daily check-in ladder adds another 100 credits across a week. No card, no countdown, and nothing that expires in three days.
-
You want stills, not video: images cost a fraction of what video costs, so the free engine on our image page runs with no account at all — no signup, no email.
The free engine is a starting point, not a ceiling. Seedance 2.5 — the one this site opens on when you upgrade, and one of only two models here that runs to 30 seconds in a single clip, against 8 or 10 for the rest of the shelf — and Veo 3.1 sit on the same account, so you can move up to the premium models without rebuilding your work somewhere else — our AI dance video generator already runs on Veo 3.1. To judge the free engine first, the AI cakeify effect and the AI melt effect are both wired to it rather than to a premium model, so you can press generate on either and judge the output yourself before deciding whether to spend anything. Plans are on the pricing page.
FAQ: free AI video generators
Is there a genuinely free AI video generator with no watermark?
Very few. Most free tiers watermark video because that watermark is the advertising paying for the generation. Kavel is the exception in the table above — clean 480p, four seconds by default, no logo, no card. Pika's free plan is unwatermarked too, but it gives you no credits to spend. Higher resolution with no watermark generally means a paid plan.
Which free AI video generators refresh credits daily?
PixVerse is the one here reported to refresh credits daily. Kavel's check-in ladder also pays out every day you come back. Kling lists daily free credits under subscriber benefits, not on its $0 plan. Runway's 125 credits are one-time, and Hailuo's welcome credits expire after three days.
Can I use free AI video output commercially?
Usually not. Kling's pricing page leaves commercial use off its free plan, Pika keeps the commercial license for paid plans, and Hailuo's terms grant content rights on paid subscriptions. Check the specific terms before putting a free video in an ad.
Why is free AI video always 5 or 6 seconds long?
Because price scales with duration and resolution. At wholesale rates a 720p video costs the provider around $0.15, while ten seconds at 1080p can reach $1.00. Free tiers stop where that cost stops being sustainable.
Is Luma Dream Machine still free in 2026?
No. Its pricing page currently starts at $30/month with no free plan listed, though many roundups still describe it as a free AI video generator.
Are Sora and Veo free?
Neither, and Sora no longer exists at all: OpenAI discontinued the Sora app on 26 April 2026 and shut the Sora API down on 24 September 2026. Google's Veo has no free tier either — video generation comes with a paid Google AI plan, from Google AI Plus up. Access to the strongest video models generally requires a subscription somewhere, which is why the comparison above is really a comparison of cheaper engines.
