AI Hair Growth Video Generator

Upload one photo and watch a giant dome of hair sprout in seconds — keep the face, set the style, and get a vertical clip made for the feed.

Our own test

A real run, start to finish

This clip is not a stock example — we generated it on Kavel with the same free-tier model and the same one-photo flow this page hands you, specifically to see whether the effect actually holds up. Every result is AI-generated, so yours will vary with the photo, the prompt, and the style you set; treat this as the shape of the gag, not a template you get back exactly.

Hands-on test

Bald portrait to giant dome, one pass

A plain bald studio portrait went in and this came back — the volume sprouts upward, the face carries over intact, and the reaction sells it. One prompt, no editing, no second pass. It is also where the limits show: the effect is strongest on a clear, front-facing head with room above it in the frame.

Second test

Buzz cut to a rainbow dome, same one-photo flow

The second run, to see how far the look can be steered: a buzz-cut portrait and a prompt asking for enormous rainbow curls. The volume and the colour both landed, the face carried over, and the laugh came free. Naming the reaction in the prompt is what makes it read as a joke rather than a wig.

What is an AI hair growth generator?

A bald or close-cropped head erupts into an absurd, oversized dome of hair in a couple of seconds, usually with the person grinning at what just happened. That joke is animated here from one still photo.

Video tool

Nothing is being cured or predicted here: it is a comedy effect, the video equivalent of a cartoon wig dropping on someone's head, and it belongs next to the other meme transformations rather than anywhere near a clinic.

On Kavel it runs image-to-video on Veo 3.1 — you upload the picture, describe the hair you want, and the model grows it on the same head while keeping the face recognisable, which is the entire reason the gag lands. We ran it ourselves before writing this page: a plain bald studio portrait went in, and a giant black dome came back with the subject laughing, in one pass and one prompt.

That is the honest ceiling of the effect today — it is very good at sprouting volume on a head that is already facing the camera, and much less reliable when the hair has to interact with a hat, a hood, or a crowded background. Start from a clear, front-facing photo with the head fully in frame; the flow defaults to image-to-video, and the credit estimate updates before you commit, so a failed run is refunded (unless it broke the content policy).

It suits someone making a birthday roast, a creator chasing the format while it is still moving, or a friend group that just wants to see what the joke does to their own faces.

Failed runs

Photo-based volume

Upload one clear photo and the model reads the head, then sprouts the volume upward and outward from it.

Prompted styles

Describe the look — afro dome, wild curls, rainbow bouffant — and the clip follows that brief.

Check the credit estimate and generate; a failed run is refunded (unless it broke the content policy), so a second style is free to try. This one is deliberately absurd; when you want the believable version of the same idea, the hairstyle changer and the long hair filter work from the same photo.

How to use

Headroom, hair, and the reaction

The gag needs somewhere to grow into and someone to react to it — both are set before you generate.

1

Leave space above the head

One clear picture with the head fully in frame and empty space above it — that space is where the volume goes, and a tight crop caps how absurd the dome can get. A sharp front-facing shot on a plain background holds the likeness while everything above it changes.

2

Set the hair and the face under it

A huge afro dome, wild curls, a slick mane, a rainbow bouffant — then say how the person takes it. The hair is the effect; the grin underneath is what makes it funny, and leaving the reaction unspecified is how a joke lands flat.

3

Confirm the estimate and generate

The credit cost appears before the clip runs, and a failed run costs nothing — so a dome that came out tame is one reworded brief from a bigger one.

Who it's for

Who makes one of these

Barbershop posts, bald jokes, a punchline that needs a few seconds of build.

Roasts & group chats

Drop a friend's photo in and send back the clip — the joke lands because it is unmistakably their face under the ridiculous volume.

Creators chasing the format

Make a vertical clip in minutes while the format is still moving, rather than filming a setup and editing a transition by hand.

Effect FAQ

Common questions about the dome clip on Kavel.

No. It is a comedy video effect — an absurd, oversized dome sprouting in two seconds, which is not what any real process looks like. It predicts nothing, diagnoses nothing, and should not be read as a preview of a treatment or a transplant. If you want a realistic new look instead of the gag, the hairstyle changer restyles a still photo believably; this tool is here for the joke.

A sharp, front-facing shot with the whole head in frame and empty space above it — the volume needs somewhere to grow into, and a tight crop leaves it nowhere to go. Plain backgrounds beat busy ones, and a bald or closely cropped head reads more dramatically than one that already has volume.

This page makes a clip of the hair growing, which is the version people share. If all you want is a single still with more hair on it, that is a different job and a cheaper one — use the image tools instead, where you upload one photo and get one edited photo back. Come here when the motion is the point.

That is the whole reason for starting from a real photo — the model keeps the face and the expression while it grows the hair on top. A clear, well-lit original holds the likeness best; a dark or low-resolution one gives it less to work from, so the closer the input, the closer the result.

It comes back as a short vertical clip, which is the format the joke travels in. You can steer the look by describing it — a tight afro dome, wild curls, a rainbow bouffant, and the reaction you want. A specific brief lands closer than a vague one, so it helps to name the hair, the speed, and the expression rather than leaving them to chance.

Free credits arrive with the account, and this runs on Veo 3.1 — a free-tier model — so you can try it without a subscription. The estimate is on screen before you press the button, and a failed run is refunded automatically (unless it broke the content policy), so you can keep adjusting the brief until the gag lands without watching a meter tick up on every attempt.

Hats and hoods, for one — the model has to decide whether the hair goes through them, and it usually picks wrong. Busy backgrounds, heads cropped near the top of the frame, and profile shots all cut the hit rate too. If a run comes back mushy, the fix is almost always a cleaner source photo rather than a longer prompt.

What each model costs in credits

You're only charged for successful generations. The exact estimate in the generator varies by model, length, resolution, audio, and number of images.

TypeModelCredit cost
VideoSeedance 2.5The long-take tier, priced per second: 5s 480p ≈ 211 credits, 5s 720p ≈ 473. A full 30s take runs ≈ 1,260 at 480p and ≈ 2,835 at 720p. Supplying a reference clip lowers the per-second rate.
VideoSeedance 2.05s 720p image-to-video ≈ 188 credits; text-to-video ≈ 308 credits. Scales with resolution and length.
VideoSeedance 2 FastFaster and lower cost. 5s 720p text-to-video ≈ 248 credits.
VideoSeedance 2 MiniThe cheapest Seedance tier. 5s 720p ≈ 154 credits, 5s 480p ≈ 72 credits.
VideoSeedance 1.5 ProAudio doubles the rate. 5s 720p ≈ 27 credits silent, ≈ 53 with audio; 1080p ≈ 57 and ≈ 113.
VideoVeo 3.1Billed per video, not per second (Lite tier). About 45 credits at 720p and 53 at 1080p.
VideoKling 3.0Audio raises the rate. 5s 720p ≈ 105 credits silent, ≈ 150 with audio; 1080p ≈ 135 and ≈ 203.
VideoMiniMax H3Fixed 2K, no resolution ladder. Priced per second — a 5s clip ≈ 158 credits.
