AI Tattoo Generator

Describe the piece — a snake through lavender, a swallow, your grandmother's handwriting — and get flash-sheet designs or the ink rendered on skin. The expensive mistake this prevents is permanent.

The same arm, before and after the ink

A real in-place edit from our own run: we photographed a bare forearm on a table, then asked for a fine-line snake-and-lavender tattoo added — and nothing else touched. Drag the divider: the mug, the plant, the light and the arm hold still while the ink appears. Every output is AI-generated; your design and your arm will make a different pair.

What does an AI tattoo designer do?

It is a design tool for the months between wanting a tattoo and booking one: it turns a written idea into tattoo designs — flash-sheet style on paper, or rendered as ink on a photographed arm — so you can react to something concrete instead of describing a vibe to an artist from nothing.

Image tool

Who actually searches this: people in the deliberation stage, which for tattoos famously lasts between three months and nine years. They are not looking for an artist yet — they are trying to find out what the idea in their head looks like, whether it works at forearm scale, and whether they will still like it after fifty variations. That is exactly the loop a generator is good at and a consultation is too expensive for.

Both examples on this page are our own runs: a flash sheet generated from a four-design brief, and the before/after pair — one photographed bare forearm, the snake-and-lavender piece added in place with the table, mug and light untouched. Bring either to a real artist as a reference and the conversation starts three steps ahead — every artist prefers reacting to a direction over divining one.

The honest limit: 'add ink to my photo' is the hardest kind of AI edit, and in our own testing some runs re-imagined the scene — a beautiful preview on an arm that was not quite the one uploaded — before one held the base perfectly. Expect to rerun once or twice for an exact-arm preview, and treat the output as a look preview, never as placement or sizing advice; that judgement belongs to the artist holding the needle.

How a design run works

Describe the piece and the style, generate, and refine the sentence until the sheet looks like your idea.

An idea, or your arm
You name it
Designs or on-skin ink

Flash-sheet mode

Four designs on one page from a single brief — the format artists actually sketch options in, ready to react to.

On-skin preview

The same design rendered as settled ink on a photographed arm, which is how you learn whether fine lines survive at forearm scale.

How to use

Design a tattoo in three decisions

Style words do most of the work — borrow the vocabulary tattoo artists use.

  1. Name the subject and style

"Fine-line snake wrapped around lavender" — subject plus style is the minimum viable brief. "Fine line", "american traditional", "blackwork" and "single needle" all steer hard.

  2. Choose paper or skin

Ask for a flash sheet when you are still choosing between ideas; upload an arm photo and ask for the ink added when you are testing one idea at real scale.

  3. Vary one thing per rerun

Thinner lines. Smaller. More negative space. Changing one variable per run tells you what actually improved it — the same discipline a good artist applies.

Who it's for

Who runs tattoo ideas through it

Different stages of the same permanent decision.

The long deliberators

Years of "someday" turn into a folder of concrete designs. Watching fifty variations teaches you what you actually like — usually simpler than where you started, the same way the muscle generator preview usually ends humbler than the first ask.

People booking a consult

Walking in with three generated directions beats walking in with adjectives. The artist redraws it properly — that is their craft — but the brief is now visual.

The matching-tattoo committee

Couples and friend groups arguing about a shared design finally have something to vote on. Generate the candidates, put them in the chat, count the reactions.

Ink preview FAQ

Asked before the needle, as it should be.

Yes — upload a clear photo of the placement area and ask for the design added as settled ink. One honest caveat from our own testing: add-to-photo edits sometimes re-imagine the scene rather than editing in place, so check that the arm in the result is actually yours and rerun if it drifted. The free rerun costs seconds; a mis-scaled real tattoo costs a laser.

As a reference, yes — and most prefer it to a verbal description. Hand over the generated design as the direction, not a stencil: a working artist will redraw it for your anatomy, adjust line weights for how ink ages, and fix what the model does not know about skin. The generator replaces the awkward describing phase, not the artist.

Anything you can name: fine line, blackwork, american traditional, neo-traditional, dotwork, minimalist, script. Naming a style is the single highest-leverage word in the brief — leave it out and you get a generic middle ground no one would actually wear.

Design runs use credits and new accounts start with a free grant — enough to explore a concept properly before spending anything. The cost estimate is visible in the generator before each run.

Outputs are yours to use, including bringing them to a studio. Two cautions: AI-generated designs are not copyright-registrable in most places, so a hugely distinctive piece could in principle appear on someone else too — and if a design closely mimics a specific artist's published work, commissioning that artist is the right move, not generating around them.

Uploaded over HTTPS for the run, stored in your history so you can revisit, never used to advertise. Delete it and it is gone. Every output is AI-generated.

Model credit guide

What each model costs in credits

You're only charged for successful generations. The exact estimate in the generator varies by model, length, resolution, audio, and number of images.

TypeModelCredit cost
VideoSeedance 2.5The long-take tier, priced per second: 5s 480p ≈ 211 credits, 5s 720p ≈ 473. A full 30s take runs ≈ 1,260 at 480p and ≈ 2,835 at 720p. Supplying a reference clip lowers the per-second rate.
VideoSeedance 2.05s 720p image-to-video ≈ 188 credits; text-to-video ≈ 308 credits. Scales with resolution and length.
VideoSeedance 2 FastFaster and lower cost. 5s 720p text-to-video ≈ 248 credits.
VideoSeedance 2 MiniThe cheapest Seedance tier. 5s 720p ≈ 154 credits, 5s 480p ≈ 72 credits.
VideoSeedance 1.5 ProAudio doubles the rate. 5s 720p ≈ 27 credits silent, ≈ 53 with audio; 1080p ≈ 57 and ≈ 113.
VideoVeo 3.1Billed per video, not per second (Lite tier). About 45 credits at 720p and 53 at 1080p.
VideoKling 3.0Audio raises the rate. 5s 720p ≈ 105 credits silent, ≈ 150 with audio; 1080p ≈ 135 and ≈ 203.
VideoMiniMax H3Fixed 2K, no resolution ladder. Priced per second — a 5s clip ≈ 158 credits.
ImageNano Banana 2Generate or edit from text and images. About 8 credits per 1K image, 12 at 2K, 18 at 4K.
ImageNano Banana ProConsistent run times across generations. About 12 credits per 1K or 2K image, 21 at 4K.
ImageNano Banana 2 LiteFaster, simpler variant. A flat 8 credits per image at every resolution. Start here to test.
