Remove a Color from an Image

Three different people type this exact phrase. A seller whose product photo has a color-clashing prop in frame. A designer handed a graphic where one brand color has to go. And someone whose phone shot came back with a green fluorescent cast over everything. Photoshop answers all three with Select Color Range and twenty minutes of masking; this page answers them with one sentence each — which is why the query deserves its own tool rather than a general editor.

The pair below is our own run on this page's engine, not a stock example: we shot a red rain jacket on a gray London street and asked for every trace of red removed. The jacket went gray — and so did the double-decker bus behind her, because the sentence said "every trace". That is the lesson in one frame: name the color and everything wearing it changes; name the owner — "recolor the red jacket" — and the bus keeps its paint.

The honest limit: this is a repaint, not a mask export. You get back a finished image, not a transparent PNG or a layered file — if you need the selection itself for further editing, a desktop tool is still the right instrument. And where the named color bleeds into reflections or skin bounce-light, the model has to judge where the object ends, and a very tight crop gives it less to judge with.
