AI Melt Effect

Upload one photo and watch yourself slowly melt into a glossy liquid puddle — keep the face, set the look, and get a clip ready for the feed.

Our own test

A real run, start to finish

This clip is not a stock example — we generated it on Kavel with the same one-photo image-to-video flow this page hands you, specifically to see whether the effect actually holds up. Every result is AI-generated, so yours will vary with the photo, the prompt, and the style you set; treat this as the shape of the effect, not a template you get back exactly.

Hands-on test

Full-body portrait to a rainbow puddle, one pass

A plain full-body studio portrait went in and this came back — the figure melts from the head down, the colour turns to mirror-bright chrome, and it pools on the floor while the pose reads until the last moment. One prompt, no editing, no second pass. It is also where the limits show: the effect is strongest on a clear, front-facing subject with room around it in the frame.

Second test

Golden candle-wax melt, same one-photo flow

The second run, to see how far the material can be steered: a full-body portrait and a prompt asking for warm candle wax instead of chrome. The drip turned gold and glossy, pooled on the floor, and the face carried over until it went under. Naming the material is what changes the look — wax, chrome, glass — rather than leaving it to chance.

What is the AI melt effect?

Nothing violent is happening here — it is a satisfying, dreamlike video gag. A person slowly liquefies from one still photo, dripping from the top down until they collapse into a glossy puddle on the floor, usually in a few seconds and in one smooth motion: the moving-image cousin of a chrome-drip render.

Video tool

On Kavel it runs image-to-video — you upload the picture, describe the drip you want, and the model dissolves the body while keeping the face recognisable until the last moment, which is the entire reason the effect lands.

We generated the clip on this page ourselves, on Kavel's own video studio and the same one-photo flow the page hands you: a plain full-body portrait went in, and a rainbow molten pour came back, the figure melting from the head down into a mirror-bright puddle, in a single pass and a single prompt. That is the honest ceiling of the effect today — it is very good at a clean, front-facing subject against a plain background dripping straight down, and much less reliable when it has to melt around props, busy scenes, or a tight crop that leaves the puddle nowhere to pool.

Start from a sharp photo with the whole body in frame; the flow defaults to image-to-video, and the credit estimate updates before you commit, so a failed run is refunded (unless it broke the content policy). It suits someone chasing the format while it is still moving, a creator who wants a scroll-stopping transition, or a friend group that just wants to watch each other dissolve into colour.

Liquid body transformation

Upload one clear photo and the model melts the body from the top down into a glossy liquid pool on the floor.

Style prompt control

Describe the style — rainbow chrome, waxy candle, slow molten pour — and the clip follows that brief.

Check the credit estimate and generate; a failed run is refunded (unless it broke the content policy), so a second look is free to try. The melt effect destroys the subject on purpose. The cakeify effect slices it open instead of melting it down, and the dance video generator keeps the subject intact and moving.

How to use

Three decisions and the puddle forms

The photo sets how far it can spread, the brief sets what it turns into, and the estimate shows before anything runs.

1

Give it floor to spread on

One clear picture, whole body in frame, with empty floor around it — that space is where the puddle has to pool. A sharp front-facing shot on a plain background holds the likeness longest as the figure gives way.

2

Name the material, then the speed

Rainbow chrome, waxy candle wax, a slow molten pour — the substance decides the look, and how fast it falls decides whether it reads as eerie or comic. Vague briefs melt into mush.

3

Read the estimate, then run it

The credit cost appears before the clip does. A failed run costs nothing, so a look that came back wrong is a reworded brief away from a second attempt.

Who it's for

Who makes one of these

Trend accounts, horror edits, anyone chasing a format while it is hot.

Creators chasing the format

Make a scroll-stopping vertical transition in minutes while the format is still moving, rather than keyframing a melt by hand in an editor.

Roasts & group chats

Drop a friend's photo in and send back the clip — the drip lands because it is unmistakably their face right up until it dissolves.

Effect FAQ

Common questions about the melt clip on Kavel.

A video. The tool animates a still photo into a short vertical clip where the subject dissolves over a couple of seconds — the motion of the drip is the whole point, so a single frame would miss it. It comes back as a downloadable clip ready to post.

That is the reason for starting from a real photo — the model keeps the face and pose while the body begins to melt, so it reads as you right up until the drip takes over. A clear, well-lit original holds the likeness longest; a dark or low-resolution one gives it less to work from.

A sharp, front-facing shot with the whole body in frame and empty floor around it — the puddle needs somewhere to pool, and a tight crop leaves it nowhere to go. Plain backgrounds beat busy ones, and even studio light reads more cleanly than harsh shadow.

It comes back as a short vertical clip, the format the effect travels in. You can steer the look by describing it — rainbow chrome, waxy candle wax, a slow molten pour, and how fast it falls. A specific brief lands closer than a vague one, so it helps to name the material and the speed rather than leaving them to chance.

Free credits arrive with the account, and this runs on Veo 3.1 — a free-tier model — so you can try it without a subscription. The estimate is on screen before you press the button, and a failed run is refunded automatically (unless it broke the content policy), so you can keep adjusting the brief until the drip lands without watching a meter tick up on every attempt.

Props and busy scenes, for one — the model has to decide what melts and what does not, and a cluttered frame confuses it. Tight crops, profile shots, and dark backgrounds all cut the hit rate too. If a run comes back mushy, the fix is almost always a cleaner, fuller-body source photo rather than a longer prompt.

Model credit guide

What each model costs in credits

You're only charged for successful generations. The exact estimate in the generator varies by model, length, resolution, audio, and number of images.

TypeModelCredit cost
VideoSeedance 2.5The long-take tier, priced per second: 5s 480p ≈ 211 credits, 5s 720p ≈ 473. A full 30s take runs ≈ 1,260 at 480p and ≈ 2,835 at 720p. Supplying a reference clip lowers the per-second rate.
VideoSeedance 2.05s 720p image-to-video ≈ 188 credits; text-to-video ≈ 308 credits. Scales with resolution and length.
VideoSeedance 2 FastFaster and lower cost. 5s 720p text-to-video ≈ 248 credits.
VideoSeedance 2 MiniThe cheapest Seedance tier. 5s 720p ≈ 154 credits, 5s 480p ≈ 72 credits.
VideoSeedance 1.5 ProAudio doubles the rate. 5s 720p ≈ 27 credits silent, ≈ 53 with audio; 1080p ≈ 57 and ≈ 113.
VideoVeo 3.1Billed per video, not per second (Lite tier). About 45 credits at 720p and 53 at 1080p.
VideoKling 3.0Audio raises the rate. 5s 720p ≈ 105 credits silent, ≈ 150 with audio; 1080p ≈ 135 and ≈ 203.
VideoMiniMax H3Fixed 2K, no resolution ladder. Priced per second — a 5s clip ≈ 158 credits.
