You, a friend or the least likely dancer you know, face toward the camera. A full-body photo gives the best kicks; the clothes in it are the clothes they dance in.
Shan Shen Bu from one photo: you, your friend or your dad doing the Chinese flash step dodge, ready for the group chat. No dance lessons, no CapCut template.
The Shan Shen Bu dodge is all over TikTok right now. Post yours while the skits are still on the feed.

Four people doing the flash step in four places. Each place is a button in the generator above: pick the fruit shop, the courtyard, the sunny path or the cave and your photo dances there.
A motorbike rolls past, he waits, then the routine starts right outside the fruit stall: the dodge, the kick, arms up, the deep stance. The clip posted on X by @Natie2Natie.
Put me outside the fruit shopRed lanterns, a carved stone wall, and every move hit clean in white trousers. The TikTok clip by @huangliping613.
Give me the courtyardHood up on an empty path by a hedge, he runs the whole routine like nobody's watching. The Instagram clip by @azland620.

Take me to the caveShan Shen Bu (闪身步, also written Shanshenbu) means "flash step": a sudden sideways dodge of the body from Chinese folk dance. The meme comes from a teaching video in which Beijing Dance Academy professor Zhao Tiechun calls out each move and then performs it. This October TikTok turned it into comedy skits where people use the moves to dodge a hug, a punch or an awkward question.
Here the dodge, the kick and the stance are already written around your photo, so you skip the tutorial and the template link. Want another dance meme from one photo? The Susan Dell dance has you squatting and freezing on one leg, and the Tecktonik dance throws your arms around like it's 2008.

Your photo supplies the dancer: the face, hair and clothes stay the same while Seedance 2.0 Mini puts them through the flash step routine, start to finish. What one clip costs is written on the Generate button before you press it.

Shop sign above, crates of fruit behind, both arms flung at the sky.

Black tee, white socks, the kick flicked out mid-grin.
Upload a photo in your phone's browser and your flash step comes back a few minutes later, with no tutorial to learn and nothing to install.

The default is the street outside a fruit shop. Tap the courtyard, the hoodie in the sun or the cave, or press Random for somewhere new.
Your clip comes back vertical with its own beat. Put the Shan Shen Bu narration sound on it in TikTok and tag whoever you're dodging.
The joke works because the moves are dead serious and the dancer clearly isn't a dancer. Pick whoever would look the most out of place doing them.
"So when are you getting married?" Flash step. Post it with the question as the caption.
The most serious person you know, kicking and wobbling outside a fruit stall. Send it to the group chat.
Their photo, perfect footwork. They'll ask how you got the video.
Those deep stances and flicked kicks are hard on knees that never trained for them. Yours stay on the sofa while the clip does the kicking.
What the name means, where the meme sound comes from, and what you get from one photo.
In Shan Shen Bu, shan is 闪 (shǎn): to flash or dodge out of the way. Shen (身) is the body and bu (步) is a step, so the whole name means "flash step", the quick sideways dodge at the start of the routine.
For Shan Shen Bu it isn't a song. The sound on most clips is the voice of Beijing Dance Academy professor Zhao Tiechun calling out each move in his teaching video. Your clip comes with its own beat; add that narration sound in TikTok when you post.
Shan Shen Bu is one of the big ones this autumn: an old folk dance lesson that turned into dodge skits in China first, then on TikTok worldwide this October. Upload a photo here and you're in it.
Shan Shen Bu, written 闪身步, also spelled Shanshenbu. Shan sheng bu is a common misspelling of the same meme.
Upload one photo, keep the fruit shop or tap another place, and press Generate. A few minutes later you get a 12-second vertical clip of that person doing the flash step routine. The price of that one clip is on the Generate button before you press it.
This video is $9.99 on its own, with nothing to cancel later. The packs make each next clip cheaper, their credits never expire, and a run that fails puts its credits back.

One photo in, and a few minutes later you get a 12-second vertical clip of that person doing the flash step, the kick and the low stance. It all happens in your phone's browser, with nothing to install. Post it while the dodge skits are still everywhere.
