Is Imael Angel AI? The Truth Behind "Bad Times" and Its AI Pet Trend

Yes, the music is AI, but Imael Angel is a real person. The artist's own Deezer bio calls Imael Angel "an artist created with artificial intelligence", and Songfacts, Genius and the French radio station Fréquence 3 all say the songs are generated with AI tools. Behind the name is Bernadett Gángó, a Hungarian Reiki healer who lives in England, writes the lyrics herself and turns them into songs with AI. Her single "Bad Times" came out on 30 March 2026, went nowhere for six months, then caught fire on TikTok in September and entered the UK singles chart at No. 97. The version filling your feed now is AI on top of AI: pets and babies acting out an argument with the camera, made from one still photo.

Is Imael Angel AI? The music is. Her Deezer bio says the project was created with artificial intelligence, and two separate write-ups name Suno (one adds Udio) as the tools.
Is Imael Angel a real person? Yes. Bernadett Gángó, a Hungarian-born Reiki master based in England, makes the songs under that name.
When did the song come out? 30 March 2026, self-released. TikTok picked it up in early September 2026.
Why is every pet on TikTok arguing to it? The "dispute" routine: a creator acted the song out as a fight with the camera, and AI versions swap in a dog, a cat or a baby.
Make your own on Kavel: one photo on the Bad Times AI trend page. One 12-second clip is $9.99 with no subscription, or comes out of plan credits. It comes back on its own dance track, so add Imael Angel's sound in TikTok or Reels.

Table of six sources on whether Imael Angel is AI, from Deezer's official bio to Hungarian Wikipedia, each read on 11 October 2026

Deezer's artist bio describes the project as created with artificial intelligence. Songfacts, Genius, Fréquence 3 and Hungarian Wikipedia also say the songs are made with AI tools. No source we read says otherwise.

The sources disagree on two details:

  • The name. Songfacts writes Bernadett Gángó, Fréquence 3 writes Bernadett Gango, and the Genius writer credit reads Bernadette Kabango.
  • Who she is. Deezer's bio calls the creator "a Hungarian deep house producer" and uses "he". Songfacts, Fréquence 3 and Hungarian Wikipedia all describe a woman who works as a Reiki healer and got into music through these songs.

This is a different case from the AI personas that took over TikTok this autumn. Jean Phil of the Toc Toc dance is a generated character with no known person behind him. Imael Angel is a named, findable human who uses AI as her instrument.

How to check whether a song like Imael Angel's is AI

  1. Read the artist bio on Deezer or Spotify. It is the one place the artist speaks for themselves, and Imael Angel's says it plainly.
  2. Look at the release pace. One experiment counted 32 Imael Angel releases on Deezer in the 173 days from 30 March to 19 September 2026. That is not proof on its own, but it is a lot of songs in under six months.
  3. Do not go by the sound alone. The music site mymytune made its own AI copy of the track with a free open-source model. Tempo, key and groove matched on the first try. The one measurable gap, how bright the top end sounds, mostly closed after rewording the prompt. Their conclusion: for this track, the sound alone cannot settle the question either way.

Who is Imael Angel, the person behind the song?

According to Songfacts, Fréquence 3 and Hungarian Wikipedia, Imael Angel is the stage name of a Hungarian-born woman living in England whose main job is Reiki and energy healing. Hungarian Wikipedia says she spent eight years at a music school, that her partner Gyula works with her as a co-creator from their London base, and that her songs come from spiritual lyrics she writes and then turns into tracks with AI. She releases on her own label, Imael Angel Records.

This was not her first hit. Earlier in 2026 a clip of her song "I'm Moving to the Sun" spread on TikTok. The French house producer HUGEL picked it up and recorded a new version with the American singer Ultra Naté, and it came out on 22 May 2026 on Make The Girls Dance Records as "Movin' To The Sun". So one Imael Angel song started out AI-made and was then re-recorded by human musicians, which is why the "is it AI?" question keeps following her catalogue.

She is also a real person you can see:

  • Live. Hungarian Wikipedia records her first live audiovisual DJ set on 20 August 2026, at an official state celebration on Kossuth Lajos Square in Budapest, alongside a group called MSSNGRS.
  • On camera. The Imael Angel YouTube channel posts live footage.
  • In interviews. An Instagram reel advertises an interview with "Imael Angel and Gyula".

Is Imael Angel's voice AI?

None of the sources talks about the vocals separately. What they do say is that the tracks are generated with Suno (Hungarian Wikipedia) or Suno and Udio (Fréquence 3), tools that produce a complete song, singing included, from text. None of them credits a separate singer. The Genius bio calls the lyrics "garbled, nonsensical". A Reddit user looking for similar music put it more kindly: "I like the vocals a LOT. Especially the fact that I mostly can't understand it."

Fréquence 3's account is that for almost six months nothing happened: no radio, no press, no editorial playlists. Then, in early September, TikTok creators started using the track. The YouTube comments under her uploads show the same thing: "Who coming from Instagram?" and "Got this song stuck in my head after watching videos of dance challenges to it!"

What the Imael Angel AI trend on TikTok actually is

The format TikTok calls the "Bad Times dispute" is a lip-sync acted as a fight with the camera. You point straight at the lens, grab your head in disbelief, push out a flat "hold on" palm, shrug, then lunge forward until your face fills the frame. Many captions credit the TikTok creator @bouuhyachaka with the original.

The AI version keeps the routine and changes who does it: a husky up on its hind legs, a cat with its paws on its head, a toddler turning both palms out at the lens, even a capybara. Our trend radar tracks the posts. Here is what it shows for the 30 days to 11 October 2026:

What we counted Number
Posts tagged to the trend (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, X) 141
TikTok posts kept, at most two per creator 71
TikTok posts whose caption sells a template or a tutorial 44 (5.9 million views)
TikTok posts that are just the clip 27 (9.2 million views)

Kavel trend radar counts for the Imael Angel AI trend over 30 days to 11 October 2026: 141 posts, 71 TikTok posts kept, 44 template or tutorial ads, 27 plain clips

Count by caption and nearly two in three of these AI posts are ads for a CapCut template or a how-to: "Tap 'Try this template'" and "Just follow the simple steps to create your own clip!". The plain clips get more views in total, though. The most-watched plain clip we tracked is a cat (2.2 million views); the most-watched template ad has 3.1 million.

How to make your own Imael Angel AI trend video

You don't need a CapCut template link or the original clip. On Kavel's Bad Times AI trend page the routine is already written into the prompt, so a single photo is the only upload.

Kavel's Bad Times AI trend generator: three one-tap templates (a husky, a baby in a red hood, two toddlers), the Seedance 2 Mini model, a photo upload slot and a note that the clip comes on its own dance track

Step 1: Pick one photo facing the camera

A dog or cat standing or sitting up, a baby looking at whoever holds the phone, or a person from the waist up. Leave room around them for the paws or arms to move, because the hold-on hands and the head grab need space in the frame.

Step 2: Keep the routine or tap a template

The default prompt runs the whole dispute: finger at the lens, hands on the head, flat palm, shrug, lunge, serious stare. Three real TikTok versions are one-tap templates: a husky in a kitchen, a baby in a playpen and two toddlers. You can also rewrite any beat in plain English.

For a pet, the prompt keeps real paws. That matters more than it sounds: a common miss in the AI versions on TikTok is a cat that suddenly grows human hands.

The human-hands glitch, from a TikTok post by @catv1025.

Step 3: Make the clip, then add the song

The default is a 12-second vertical clip, long enough for the whole routine. The clip comes back on its own upbeat dance track, not Imael Angel's song. When you post it on TikTok or Reels, pick the "Bad Times" sound from the app's library so the lip-sync lands on the song everyone knows. The track is on Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music, and posting it with the in-app sound is how the whole trend works. One clip is $9.99 with no subscription, or comes out of plan credits (pricing). If a run fails, its credits go back to your account.

If you would rather have your pet dance than argue, the AI dance video generator has other routines, and the AI pet video generator takes any scene you can describe. To make your own photo sing a different song, use AI lip sync.

Imael Angel AI FAQ

Is Imael Angel a real person?
Yes. Imael Angel is the stage name of Bernadett Gángó, a Hungarian-born Reiki healer living in England, according to Songfacts, Fréquence 3 and Hungarian Wikipedia. She has played live as a DJ. What is AI is the music, not the person.

Is "Bad Times" an AI song?
Yes. Her Deezer bio says the project was created with artificial intelligence, and Genius, Songfacts and Fréquence 3 all describe the songs as made with AI tools.

Is the voice AI?
Every source that explains how the songs are made says they come out of AI music tools (Suno, and Udio according to Fréquence 3), and none credits a human singer on the track.

Who wrote the song?
Imael Angel, that is, Bernadett Gángó. She writes the lyrics and makes the track with AI. Genius lists the writer as Bernadette Kabango, a spelling the other sources do not use.

When did it come out, and is it on an album?
30 March 2026, as a single (Songfacts lists it as "released as a single"), self-released on Imael Angel Records. It took off on TikTok in early September 2026.

What songs sound like it?
It is a deep house track with a chanted, half-intelligible hook. mymytune measured it at about 108 beats per minute in F minor. Other Imael Angel singles, such as "I'm Alive" and "Albedo", are in the same vein, and "Movin' To The Sun" by HUGEL and Ultra Naté started as one of her songs.

Why is my feed full of pets arguing to it?
That is the AI version of the dispute routine: the argue-with-the-camera performance redone with a dog, a cat or a baby from one photo. Nearly two in three of the posts we tracked are selling a template.

An AI tabby cat lunging right up to the camera so its face fills the frame, one paw reaching toward the lens

The lunge at the end of the routine, from the same @shalunts_art clip.

What other AI trends like this are there?
The Raindance AI trend and the zombie AI trend also turn one photo into a short TikTok clip, and the Toc Toc dance is the one built around an AI character.

Can I make my dog or cat do the trend?
Yes. Upload a photo of your pet standing or sitting up on the Bad Times AI trend page and keep the default routine or the husky template. Then add the sound when you post. For another AI dance trend built on a viral song, see the Toc Toc AI dance.
